Britain
in Bloom 2008
In 2007 Rustington achieved a Gold Award in the South and South East in Bloom Competition - one of only nine given across the whole of the South and South East of England. As a result we have been invited to participate in the prestigious Britain
in Bloom campaign, an invitation which has been accepted with much pride.
The In-Bloom Campaign
is really “stepping-up a gear” this year, with preparations
progressing for the Village’s entry in both the Britain-in-Bloom and
South and South East in Bloom Competitions.
Confirmed projects
this year include a major permanent landscaping project in Ash Lane
to replace the majority of the overgrown and diseased shrubs and
trees. The clearance works have been undertaken by members of the
Youth Offending Team and The Oak Community Project, which has
obviously reduced costs significantly. The Oak Community Project
will also be assisting Ferring Nurseries with the new planting in
this area, and the Committee is extremely grateful for all of this
help.
The roundabout in Mill
Lane has also benefited from some floral enhancement.
The South and South
East in Bloom judging will take place on
Friday 11 July 2008 and the Britain in Bloom
judges will be carrying out judging of the Village on
Friday 8 August 2008.
So, please be vigilant and play your part in
ensuring the success for the Village, not just in the South of
England, but across the entire Country.
Rustington in Bloom - Sponsorship
We are funded by a small budget from our Parish Council, sponsorship from local companies, donations and fund raising events organised by the In-Bloom Committee. So now we are appealing to you for help with sponsorship or donations of any kind, as our entry this year will require an increased booster to put Rustington on the national map. Any assistance would be most appreciated.
